Want to make a simple but beautiful Valentines day gift? Here's how to make a DIY candy bouquet!
Valentine's Day is a fun holiday to celebrate with the kids.
They, of course, do treats for school and we do a lot of special recipes as well leading up to the holiday.
But I always get a bit iffy about giving them gifts for Valentines Day.
I mean, we just had Christmas. They do not need any more stuff!
So, instead I try to focus on consumables: candy, bath bombs, treats, maybe a craft item. Things they can enjoy but don't clutter up the house.
But, it can be a bit whomp-whomp to hand someone a pile of candy.
Enter: the candy bouquet.
This is an easy, low cost, DIY way to make a simple gift of candy and treats super cute to gift.
I made them for my kids, but I also made one for my husband. It was inspired by the Walmart heart box of meat, and of course I included some mini bottles and other adult-specific treats!
How to make a DIY candy bouquet for Valentines Day
Here's how easy it is to make these Valentines day gifts!
Supplies needed:
- Bucket or basket (or use a mug or cup!)
- Foam ball
- Tissue paper (2 pieces per gift)
- Skewers
- Hot glue
- Tape
- Candy and other treats
Steps to make:
STEP 1: Add tissue paper
Add a piece of tissue paper inside your bucket or container.
To do this, I pinched the center of the sheet of tissue paper and flick it to create a point around the center.
Put inside your container and gently press it in place so it does not tear.
STEP 2: Wrap ball
Take the second piece of tissue paper and wrap it around a foam ball.
STEP 3: Add ball to bucket
Add the ball to the container, tucking excess underneath. Press in place until you are happy with the look.
STEP 4: Glue/Tape treats to skewers
Now, prep your skewers. Use hot glue or tape to adhere your goodies to the skewers.
STEP 5: Add to foam
Carefully press the skewers into the foam.
Take care that you are balancing the weight as you stick the items in. If you put too many heavy things in the back, for example, it will be unstable and might tip over!
STEP 6: Gift and enjoy!
Once you are done, give the tissue a further fluff and you are ready to gift it!
