This Halloween trail mix recipe is the ultimate spooky snack! With cereal, pretzels, candy corn, and chocolate all coated in white chocolate, it’s an easy Halloween treat kids and adults will love.
My kids absolutely love this trail mix—we make a version for just about every holiday!
You might have already seen our red, white and blue trail mix for the 4th of July or our fun leprechaun bait for St. Patrick’s Day. This Halloween trail mix is the spooky season twist, and honestly, it might be our favorite yet.
It’s ridiculously easy to make, totally addictive, and the perfect balance of sweet and salty. Whether you serve it up at a Halloween party, portion it into little bags for classroom treats, or just keep a bowl handy for movie night, it disappears fast!
The best part? You can swap out the mix-ins for whatever you have on hand or match the holiday colors. It’s such a simple, fun way to feel festive—and the whole thing comes together in about fifteen minutes.

How to Make Halloween Trail Mix
Here's how easy it is to make this easy Halloween treat!

Ingredients You’ll Need
Here’s what went into my Halloween trail mix:
- 1 ½ cups Rice Chex cereal
- 1 ½ cups Chocolate Cheerios
- 1 cup mini pretzels (I used these fun Halloween-shaped pretzels)
- ¾ cup candy corn
- ½ cup Reese’s Pieces
- ½ cup milk chocolate chips
- 1 bag white chocolate chips
- 1 tablespoon coconut oil (or Crisco)
- Halloween sprinkles (I used these sprinkles)

How to Make Halloween Trail Mix
Mix the base – In a large bowl, combine the Rice Chex, Chocolate Cheerios, pretzels, candy corn, Reese’s Pieces, and milk chocolate chips.

Melt the coating – In a microwave-safe bowl, add the entire bag of white chocolate chips with 1 tablespoon of coconut oil. Microwave in 30-second intervals (about 3–4 times), stirring between each, until smooth and fully melted.
Combine everything – Pour the melted white chocolate over your dry ingredients. Stir quickly and carefully to coat everything before the chocolate sets.

Spread it out – Pour the mixture onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Use a spatula to spread it evenly.

Add sprinkles – While the chocolate is still wet, sprinkle on your Halloween sprinkles for a festive finishing touch.

Cool & break apart – Let the mixture sit for at least an hour until completely cooled and hardened. Once set, break it into chunks and store in an airtight container (or serve right away).

Tips & Variations
- Make it nut-free – Swap Reese’s Pieces for M&Ms if you’re serving to a crowd with allergies.
- Add more crunch – Mix in candy-coated popcorn or Bugles for an extra fun texture.
- Get festive – Use orange, black, and purple sprinkles to really bring out the Halloween vibes.

This Halloween trail mix makes a great party snack or neighbor gift! Scoop some into small treat bags, tie with ribbon, and you’ve got an easy festive favor. Or just keep it in a big bowl for everyone to snack on during pumpkin carving or a Halloween movie night.
