There are certain things that just form core memories in your brain. I am so lucky that I had a mom who made so many efforts to do special things for my sister and I while we were growing up. I have a lot of fun memories of crafts and activities that we did.

One specific memory around Thanksgiving is that she would always set up a station for the kids to make these cookie turkeys.

I remember how silly they were, and gathering around wiht my cousins, mostly eating M&Ms, and crafting lopsided, goofy looking turkeys.

I remember one cousin who loved to bite their heads off first.

So many happy memories, and I hope to pass that same experience onto my kids.

How to Make Turkey Cookies for Thanksgiving

These cookies are not only delicious but also super cute and perfect for getting everyone in the Thanksgiving spirit. Plus, they’re easy enough for kids to help make!

Ingredients:

  • Nutter Butter cookies
  • White icing (in a piping bag or squirt bottle)
  • Candy eyeballs
  • Mini M&Ms (orange/yellow for the beak, red for the gobbler, can also use for eyes)
  • Regular-sized Reese’s cups (unwrapped)
  • Fudge Stripe cookies (chocolate frosted side up)
  • Candy corn for the feathers

Instructions:

STEP 1: Prepare the Turkey’s Face:

Take a Nutter Butter cookie and apply a small amount of white icing to one side.

Attach two candy eyeballs near the top and two mini M&Ms—one orange/yellow for the beak right below the eyes, and one red on the side for the gobbler.

STEP 3: Set the Base:

Apply icing to the bottom of the Reese’s-Nutter Butter assembly. Then, attach it to the top of a Fudge Stripe cookie, using the cookie’s chocolate frosted side up as the base to help it stand.

STEP 4: Attach the Feathers:

Use icing to stick candy corn to the back of the Reese’s cup, pointing outward to resemble turkey feathers.

STEP 5: Let It Dry:

These turkey cookies can be a bit floppy at first, so let the icing dry completely. Be generous with the icing, especially at the base, to ensure your turkey stands well. Once dry, the cookies will be secure and ready to display.
