Looking for a fun and creative way to give lottery tickets as a gift? This DIY lottery ticket gift basket is easy to assemble and makes a great gift for birthdays, holidays, white elephant exchanges, or even a silent auction fundraiser!
I recently put together this lottery ticket gift basket for a fundraiser silent auction, and I love how it turned out!
Instead of just handing over a stack of scratch-off tickets, I wanted to make them feel like a really exciting gift. So I arranged them into a big, beautiful bouquet of lottery tickets, complete with gold accents and an "Instant Millionaire Kit" gift tag.
The best part? You can completely customize this gift basket to fit your budget!
My basket had $300 worth of lottery tickets, but you could easily recreate the same look with a much smaller amount.
I used a mix of ticket values, including $20, $10, $5, $2, and $1 scratch-offs. We had about 100 tickets total.
You could still get a really full, impressive-looking basket using just $1 scratch-offs!
It's all about how you arrange them.

How to Make a Lottery Ticket Gift Basket
This lottery ticket bouquet looks impressive, but it's surprisingly simple to put together. You don't need any special crafting skills, and you can customize the colors and container for any occasion.

Supplies needed
- Scratch-off lottery tickets in your choice of denominations
- Small bucket, basket, or decorative container
- Floral foam
- Tissue paper
- Crinkle paper filler
- Floral card holder picks
- Wire cutters or strong utility scissors
- Clear cellophane gift basket bag
- Ribbon or rickrack
- Gift tag
- Shiny penny
- Hot glue gun
*note: if you don't buy lottery tickets often - you have to bring cash or debit card, they do not let you buy lotto tickets on credit! Good I guess but sent me for a bit of a loop as I never have cash!*
I went with a gold theme for my basket, using a small gold bucket, gold tissue paper, gold crinkle paper, and gold metal card holders. It gave the whole thing a fun, fancy look!

Step 1: Prepare your basket
Start with a small bucket or basket. I used a little gold bucket, but you can use whatever container you like.
Cut a piece of floral foam to fit snugly inside your container.
I wrapped my floral foam in a piece of gold tissue paper before placing it in the bucket. This helped hide the foam so it wouldn't be visible between the lottery tickets.
Then, I added gold crinkle paper over the top to cover everything up and make the base look nice and finished.

Step 2: Add your floral card holder picks
Next, you'll need something to hold the lottery tickets upright.
I found these cute gold metal picks that I believe are designed to hold cards in floral arrangements. They were perfect for this project!

The picks were pretty long, but you can trim them to different heights using strong utility scissors or wire cutters.
This is actually important because varying the heights helps create that full, tiered bouquet look.
Stick the picks into the floral foam, with taller ones toward the back and shorter ones toward the front.

Step 3: Arrange your lottery tickets
Now for the fun part!
Start adding your scratch-off lottery tickets to the card holder picks.
I arranged mine in a tiered, fan-shaped design, so you could see lots of tickets from the front without having them all stacked directly on top of each other.
Here are a couple of tricks that helped make the basket look really full:
- Fan out multiple tickets. Toward the back of the basket, we put three lottery tickets into each pick and spread them out like a fan. This made the arrangement look much bigger without needing a separate pick for every ticket.
- Leave some tickets connected. In the front, we kept several tickets attached in one long strip and let them hang down over the front of the bucket. I love this detail! It makes the basket look overflowing with lottery tickets.
- Vary the heights. Arrange the tickets so the taller ones are in the back and the shorter ones are in the front, creating a layered effect.
Keep adjusting the tickets until you're happy with the overall shape.
You want it to feel like a big, overflowing bouquet of scratch-offs!

Step 4: Wrap your lottery ticket gift basket
Once everything was arranged, I carefully placed the entire basket inside a large clear cellophane gift basket bag.
The clear bag keeps everything together while still showing off all those colorful lottery tickets. You don't want tickets falling off and getting lost!
I gathered the bag at the top and tied it closed with gold rickrack for a cute finishing touch.
You could also use curling ribbon, a big bow, or any ribbon that matches your gift basket.

Step 5: Add an Instant Millionaire Kit gift tag
For the final touch, I made a little gift tag that said:
INSTANT MILLIONAIRE KIT
And because every lottery ticket gift needs a little extra luck, I hot glued a shiny penny right onto the tag!
It's such a simple detail, but it really makes the whole gift feel special.
Attach the tag to your ribbon, and your lottery ticket gift basket is ready to give!

How Much Should You Spend on a Lottery Ticket Gift Basket?
One of my favorite things about this idea is that you can make it work with so many different spending amounts.
My silent auction basket contained $300 in lottery tickets, but you definitely don't have to spend that much to make something that looks impressive.
Here are a few ideas:
- $25: Use 25x $1 scratch-offs for a smaller but full-looking gift.
- $50: Mix $1, $2, and $5 tickets to create a colorful arrangement.
- $100: Make a larger bouquet with a variety of ticket values.
- $300: Create a big statement basket like the one I made for our silent auction.
If you're going for the biggest visual impact, I would focus on buying more tickets in smaller denominations rather than just a handful of expensive tickets.
A basket filled with $1 scratch-offs could look just as fun as one filled with higher-value tickets!
When to Give a Lottery Ticket Gift Basket
This would be such a fun gift for adults, especially when you want something a little more exciting than a traditional gift card.
I originally made mine for a silent auction fundraiser, where I wanted a basket that would stand out on the auction table.
But I think it would also be great for:
- Christmas gifts
- White elephant gift exchanges
- Adult birthday gifts
- Retirement celebrations
- Milestone birthdays
- Fundraiser raffles and silent auctions
- Holiday party gift exchanges
You could even change the color scheme to match the occasion. Red and green for Christmas, black and gold for a milestone birthday, or bright colors for a fun birthday surprise!
Just make sure the recipient is legally old enough to play the lottery in your state.
A Fun Gift That Makes a Big Impression
I love gifts that are just as fun to give as they are to receive, and this lottery ticket gift basket definitely fits the bill.
It takes something simple, like a handful of scratch-off tickets, and turns it into a big, exciting presentation.
Whether you're making a $25 birthday surprise or a $300 silent auction basket, you can use the same basic supplies and arrangement technique.
And who knows? Maybe your Instant Millionaire Kit will actually make someone a millionaire!
