Easy Halloween Snacks for Kids

Want to get your kids into the spooky spirit? Here’s a ton of easy Halloween snacks for kids to make for their lunchboxes or snack time!

One of my very favorite ways to get into any holiday is with themed food and recipes. But, honestly, I don’t really like to cook elaborate food for my kids.

If we’re just being real, they are super picky and have like five things that they will eat. My son doesn’t even like normal food if you make it look too different from what he’s used to.

So, this Halloween, I was doing a lot of research into fun recipe ideas to make them. And honestly, I just know he’s not gonna eat deviled eggs or meatballs made to look like eyeballs. It’s just not realistic for him and how he eats.

Today I want to share some really simple, low effort, super familiar foods that you can make fun for Halloween even for picky eaters.

Easy Halloween Snacks for Kids

Here are some of my favorite low-effort snacks and lunchbox items to make for my kids at Halloween!

Pumpkin Oranges

This is a classic for a reason and it’s super easy to do while you are quickly packing a lunch in the morning.

All you need is an orange, or any citrus and a sharpie.

Draw a jack-o’-lantern face on the peel of the orange. That’s it! Super quick and easy and adorable.

Ghost Cheese Sticks

Similarly easy, you can transform any cheese stick into a ghost. Just use a sharpie to draw two overall eyes and around mouth and throw it in the lunchbox!

Pumpkin Juice

You can also use a marker to add a jack o lantern face to a glass of orange juice or orange soda!

I used a dry erase marker on a real glass, or you can use a sharpie on a disposable one.

Add a cute straw for an extra touch!

Carved Babybel Cheese

If you want to get a little fancier with your cheese, you can actually carve a baby bell round cheese like a jack-o’-lantern.

Use a sharp knife and just stick the tip in just deep enough to cut the wax into your design. Then use the tip of the knife to pop that little shape out.

These were kind of annoying to do but not hard just hard to make them look tidy.

Jack o Lantern Snack Bags

Another great idea is to decorate a plastic bag to look like a jack-o’-lantern. Just draw your pumpkin face on the bag with a sharpie.

Then add any snack – for an orange snack, any kind of cheese crackers, like goldfish or Cheez-Its works perfectly.

You do need to fill the bag kind of full for the right effect.

Cookie Cutter Sandwiches

Of course, you can make any sandwich into a festive shape with a cookie cutter. I like this big pumpkin cookie cutter because it wastes the least possible sandwich.

I did this with both a peanut butter and jelly and a turkey and cheese sandwich.

I tried to cut out a face on one of the pumpkins and honestly the soft white bread just ripped.

I would say save the cutting for toasted bread, or potentially use a cookie cutter if you have more in the right shape for a face.

Apple Slice Mouths

Finally, my most elaborate food craft, but a good one – spooky apple slice teeth!

Slice your apple into wedge-shaped slices.

Apply peanut butter (or whatever sticky spread your kids like) to one flat side of each slice.

Add mini marshmallows, then sandwich on another apple slice with peanut butter.

I thought these would need toothpicks to hold together, but they stayed just fine. If you use a runnier spread, toothpicks broken in half might be helpful!

I hope that these ideas inspire you to have some spooky fun with your kiddos this season!
