If you’re looking for disney princess birthday party ideas, here’s how we turned our living room into a magical celebration for my daughter's 5th birthday — without the stress. These ideas are fun for kids, easy for you, and full of picture-perfect moments.
When our daughter asked for a princess birthday party after visiting the Bippity Boppity Boutique on our Disney cruise, I knew I had to recreate the magic at home.
The trick? Keep it simple, keep it fun, and make sure the kids feel like royalty without turning it into a DIY marathon for me.

Here’s exactly how I pulled off her 5th birthday — the magic, the smiles, and yes, the glitter — in a way that was fun for them and easy for me.

Disney Princess Birthday Party Ideas
These are the activities, decorations, and treats that made our party a hit. You can recreate any (or all!) of them to fit your space, budget, and your own little princess’s style.
Let the Magic Begin! – Bippity Boppity Boutique
We dedicated one room to our “boutique” — the centerpiece of the whole party. The girls got to pick face gems, get spritzed with glitter spray, dab on lip gloss, and have their nails painted.
It was an instant hit and made the kids feel special right from the start. I set everything up on a table so it looked inviting and organized, and it ran itself once the first few girls jumped in.

Rory was so insistent on "decorating" her friends, it became such a fun chance for her to feel really special.
Every guest chose a rainbow hair clip with a long, colorful hair extension and a matching jewelry pack. The kids loved checking themselves out in the mirror and were all really feeling themselves.

I wasn’t expecting it, but our glitter sprayer completely stole the show. The kids lined up for turns, and it added sparkle to everything from hair to dresses.
Here's what we used:
The bonus was, these treats doubled as their goodie bag - so they got to actually enjoy the items during the party and take them home!

Rapunzel in the House – Royal Entertainment
Hiring a princess was worth every penny. Our Rapunzel came in full costume, did makeup, led a craft, read a story, sang songs, and kept the kids completely engaged.

It was effortless for me, unforgettable for them — and it meant I could relax and enjoy watching the magic unfold.

She was there for 1 hour and I was shocked at how much she did and how down-pat the whole thing was.

She was fantastic! If you are in Charleston, I highly recommend Curiouser Entertainment!
The Cutest Little Kingdom to Color – Color & Play Castle
A big cardboard castle was set up for the kids to decorate with markers. It was colorful, creative, and just plain sweet to watch.
The smaller kids especially loved it, and it gave everyone a place to be creative between the bigger activities.

This is the castle that I got and I recommend pairing it with tempera paint sticks like these!
Sparkle Factory
We had a jewelry-making table stocked with unicorn beads, stretchy cord, and plenty of colorful charms. The kids could make bracelets, necklaces, or both, and then wear their creations during the party.
I got 2 sets of these kits and it had everything including the beads, charms, multiple types of string and even little scissors!

Make sure you use a table or tray with a lip so you don't have beads rolling all over the place!
It’s such a simple setup, but it’s one of those activities that keeps kids busy and happy while still fitting the theme perfectly.
Snack Like a Queen
When it comes to party food, I stick with the birthday girl’s favorites. That meant a table full of kid-approved snacks that didn’t require cooking or prep — just open, pour, and serve.
It kept things easy for me and made sure the kids actually ate.

Snacks served:
- Princess goldfish (I think they did the princesses dirty with this one haha)
- Skittles
- Veggie Sticks
- Pirate's Booty
- Strawberries (sliced)
- Grapes
- Ring pops
- Pigs in a blanket
- Macaroons (from Costco)
- Cupcakes
- Pink lemonade + water
I did use these PARTY serving trays from Walmart (SUCH a good bang for your buck everyone loved them!) and our new double drink dispenser for lemonade + water. We had prosecco for the adults and of course princess cupcakes, too (also from Walmart!)!

If there’s one treat that always wins at my kids’ parties, it’s ring pops. They’re fun, they’re wearable, and they double as a party accessory.
We had a big bowl of purple ring pops out, and they were gone in no time.
More Magical Decor
I went slightly overboard with all of the princess decor. Whoops! Here are all of the other miscellaneous, not otherwise mentioned decor items I got:
- Life size princess cut out - my big splurge for the party, but so perfect for a backdrop. Rapunzel also took photos with each girl here, and we got a group photo. So perfect!
- Princess castle decal - I stuck this to an oversized foam core board and hung it over the fireplace for BIG impact!
- Around the castle I used Rory's princess dolls as decor! Cute and free, haha!
- Paper tea cups - so precious! Paired with these butterfly paper straws - though I cut the straws to about ⅔ length to better fit the cups.
- Princess banner and ceiling hangers - SUCH a hit with my daughter!
- Disney Princess Pink Castle Party Table Topper - Luke's favorite to set up. Cute with all the princesses for a centerpiece or table decor!
- Iridescent tablecloths - honestly these weren't my favorite because they were so creased. I tried to steam them to no avail. Rory loved the sparkle though and I wanted to protect our tabletops from markers + nail polish!
- Balloon garland - I only made about half the kit (mama got tired) and I used the metallic balloons elsewhere but this is still the best way to get a variety of color coordinated balloons!
- We paired these Crown Princess Balloons with these tabletop stands for some centerpieces. Honestly, the stands work better with latex balloons. But, it was still cute!
- Purple Gems - Luke hid these around the house before the party and any gem you found, you got to keep! The bigger kids really liked this and actually ended up re-hiding and finding them many times.
- Plastic princess door poster - honestly idk why I ordered this just excitement. It's cute but totally unnecessary!
- Princess castle tiered cupcake stands
- Castle paper goods
- 5 balloon with a crown
- 5 candle with a crown

Sticker Craft Station
A simple sticker craft table gave kids a low-key activity to enjoy between bigger moments.
We used princess-themed stickers, but you could easily adapt this to any party theme. I set out the stickers, a couple of jars of markers, and pink and purple cardstock for them to stick to!

Rapunzel also brought a craft. I asked in advance to see what it was - crowns to color and add stickers to - so we didn't duplicate but kept it similar.
Craft stations like this are a lifesaver for kids who want something creative but quick.
I loved it because it was zero mess, too!
What we used:
Sign the Storybook – Birthday Book Guest Book
Instead of a traditional guest book, we used one of our favorite birthday books and had guests sign it with messages for our daughter.

We use this book every year and just add to it! It’s such a sweet keepsake she’ll love looking back on.
The Royal Send-Off – Goodie Bags
We kept goodie bags simple: a few small treats, plus all the treasures they collected during the party (like their hair clips, jewelry, and boutique goodies).
It was an easy, budget-friendly way to wrap things up while letting the kids leave with their magical loot.

In the goodie bag:
This party ended up being one of my favorites we’ve ever done. It was fun, magical, and full of smiles — without feeling overwhelming to plan or run.
If your little one is dreaming of a princess birthday, I hope these ideas help you create your own version of the magic.
