Looking for a free, outdoor Halloween activity you can do with your kids this weekend? Here's how to set up an easy Halloween sidewalk chalk obstacle course!
I love being over the top for Halloween. I buy tons of things, I set up elaborate crafts, I build big DIY's for my yard and home.
But sometimes, the simple things can become the biggest core memories for your kiddos.
My kids love it when I make sidewalk obstacle courses for them so I had to whip up a Halloween version.
Here's everything that I included in it so you can make your own this season.

A Few Sidewalk Chalk Tips
My kids do a ton of sidewalk chalk, I normally don't. Here are some tips I picked up that help:
- It takes a lot more chalk than you think. It goes quickly. Make sure you have plenty on hand!
- You don't need to fill everything in. Thick lines can sometimes read better than filled in shapes. Plus, it saves chalk!
- Letters and words look best if you do a thick layer - like 3 strokes thick - then a single layer of a second color on top.

Easy Halloween Sidewalk Chalk Obstacle Course
Here are the elements that I included in my Halloween sidewalk chalk!
Walk the Stem
Draw a soft, zig zagging stem for kids to walk along. I added pumpkins and wrote "don't smash the pumpkins!" for more seasonal fun.

Jack O'Lantern Jump
This was just more like normal hopscotch, but with pumpkins. Hop to it!

Don't Step on the Web!
I drew a giant web and the goal is to not step on the lines. You could also add spiders and say smash the spiders or don't.
If you are intimidated to draw the web - don't be. It's a big cross with an X over it. Then, connect those lines with curves! Easy once you break it down.

Escape the Zombies
Zombie arms are reaching in to grab you - don't get grabbed!
Honestly, this would look better if I had colored in the shirt sleeves but I waited to come back and do that at the end and TBH I ran out of blue AND pink chalk!

Snake Spin
Spin sound and round with the snake! I love the red tongue, it's so fun!

Broom Balance
I love a balance element right after a spin! These are witch's brooms - zig zag on them and don't fall off!

Skeleton Dance Party
I ended it with a skelly dance party! Silly and fun, perfect for getting outside this beautiful fall and getting into the halloween spirit!

Happy Halloween!
