How to Make Pull-Apart Christmas Tree Cinnamon Rolls
This recipe comes together fast and makes a big visual impact with minimal effort.
Supplies You’ll Need
- Baking sheet or cookie sheet
- 3 tubes canned cinnamon roll dough (24 rolls total)
- Green food coloring
Optional:
- Christmas sprinkles
Instructions
Step 1: Prep the pan
Preheat your oven according to the instructions on the cinnamon roll cans.
Line or lightly grease a baking sheet.

Step 2: Arrange the cinnamon rolls
Open all three cans of cinnamon rolls and separate the rolls.
Arrange them on the baking sheet in the shape of a Christmas tree. I used a triangle layout with rows from top to bottom like this:
- 1 roll
- 2 rolls
- 3 rolls
- 4 rolls
- 5 rolls
- 6 rolls
- 2 rolls at the bottom for the tree trunk

That uses 23 rolls total.
You’ll have 1 roll left — you can bake it separately, or try shaping it into a star and placing it at the top of the tree. (It doesn’t hold the star shape perfectly, but it’s the thought that counts!)

Step 3: Bake
Bake according to the longer bake time listed on the cinnamon roll packaging (the one for rolls that are touching).
Because the rolls are pressed together, it’s important to make sure the center rolls are fully cooked before removing the pan from the oven.
Step 4: Mix the icing
While the rolls bake, mix green food coloring into the icing from the cinnamon roll packages.

If the icing feels too thick to spread later, you can microwave it for about 15 seconds to loosen it up.

Step 5: Frost and decorate
Once the cinnamon rolls are baked and slightly cooled, spread the green icing over the entire Christmas tree.

Add Christmas sprinkles on top if desired.

Step 6: Serve and enjoy
Serve the cinnamon rolls whole and let guests pull apart their own rolls — it makes for the cutest (and easiest) serving setup.

These Pull-Apart Christmas Tree Cinnamon Rolls are one of those recipes that looks like you did so much — when really, you just let canned dough do the work.
Easy, festive, and guaranteed to be a hit!
