Want to add a cool touch to your kids summer decor? Here's how to make a Easy DIY Pool Noodle Popsicle Banner!
School is almost out and my kids and I are so ready for Summer!
I am excited to celebrate the start of summer with them by decorating our play room a bit.
I am hanging a Summer Bucket List on a posterboard on the wall, getting out the warm weather toys, and adding a few banners to our shelves.
I printed and hung this Hello Summer paper banner, but I also want to add a little something extra.
So, I made a pool noodle popsicle banner! Because it gets H-O-T here in Charleston, who doesn't want a popsicle!
Anyways, I have been loving using pool noodles for larger-than-life crafts lately. Here's how I made this one!

Easy DIY Pool Noodle Popsicle Banner
Here's how easy it is to make this banner!
Supplies needed:
- scrap paper and pen
- 2 pool noodles (for a 4 foot banner)
- Sharp serrated knife (like a bread knife) and a cutting board
- baker's twine
- scissors
- large-eyed needle
- wide popsicle sticks
- hot glue

Steps to make:
STEP 1: Create a template
You are going to cut a lot of popsicles, so the easiest way to make sure they are all about the same size is to make a template.
I used a piece of scrap paper for this!
Grab your noodle and insert a popsicle stick into the hole. Position the stick so it is about β inside the noodle, β sticking out the bottom. Add 1" to the top above the stick. That is the height that you want for your noodle cuts!
Mark this on the scrap paper and, if you'd like, cut the paper to that size. I used a pen to very clearly mark which side was my length, just so I don't mess it up!
STEP 2: Cut the noodles
Lay your first noodle on the cutting board. Align the end with your template and use your knife to cut a section of the noodle to length.
They cut super easily!
Repeat to cut all of your noodles into equal sized pieces.

STEP 3: Glue the sticks
Now, you are going to attach the popsicle sticks, once again about β in the noodle, β sticking down.
Leave 1" of empty noodle on top - this gives you space to thread the needle through in the next step without hitting your stick.

Now, see if your noodle fits snugly into the hole in the noodle. If so, you are in luck! If not, you are going to have to add a bit of glue.
Carefully add hot glue along the thin edge of each popsicle stick, about β of the way down - the part going inside the noodle.

Insert into the noodle and hold in place for about 15 seconds to be sure it is secure.
Repeat for all noodles and let them dry completely.
STEP 4: String the popsicles
Once the glue on your noodle popsicles is dry you can string them together. Thread your big needle with baker's twine.
Stick the needle into a noodle - about 1 inch down from the top, above the stick - and out the other side. Be careful that your sticks are facing forward so they will lay flat as you do this!

The needle should insert easily into the foam noodle.
Repeat for all popsicles.

STEP 5: Hang and enjoy!
Leave excess twine on each side so you have plenty to hang with. I tied a loop and hung from command hooks. So fun!

I love how this turned out and it was so easy. How fun for summer, a pool party, or even a classroom theme!
