How to Make a Turkey Fruit Tray

This edible turkey is crafted entirely from fruit, making it a refreshing and attractive centerpiece that’s as enjoyable to make as it is to eat. Here’s how you can create your own turkey fruit tray that’s sure to impress your guests.

Materials Needed:

  • 1 pear
  • Strawberries, clementines, grapes, blueberries (or any other fruits you prefer)
  • Skewers (about 6 inches long)
  • Candy googly eyes
  • Clementine peel
  • Toothpick (if needed)
  • Large serving plate or tray

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Pear:
    • Begin by cutting the pear in half. Place one half cut-side down in the center of your serving plate or tray. This will serve as the turkey’s body.
  2. Assemble the Fruit Skewers:
    • Gather your fruits and start threading them onto the skewers in a rainbow order. For a visually appealing effect, you can start with grapes at the base, followed by clementine slices, strawberry slices, and top it off with a blueberry.
    • Repeat this process until you have enough skewers to surround the pear. For my tray, I used about 20 skewers.
  3. Arrange the Skewers:
    • Before pressing them into the pear, lay out the skewers around it on the tray to get the right placement. They should fan out in a semi-circle to resemble turkey feathers.
    • Once you’re happy with the layout, carefully press the end of each skewer into the pear.
  4. Add the Turkey’s Face:
    • Attach two candy googly eyes to the pear.
    • For the beak, cut a small triangle from a piece of clementine peel and attach it using a broken piece of toothpick to keep it in place.
  5. Serve and Enjoy:
    • Your turkey fruit tray is now ready to be served! It’s not only a fun and festive way to encourage fruit eating but also a great conversation starter.
