This easy Reindeer Bait is the perfect Christmas snack mix — sweet, salty, festive, and totally kid-approved!
If you’re looking for something fun to set out while the kids are opening Christmas presents, this is it.
Reindeer Bait is always a huge hit in our house, and it’s one of those snacks that everyone keeps grabbing handfuls of all morning long.

It’s simple to make, doesn’t require baking, and is easy to portion into bowls, cups, or little baggies. Honestly? I always end up sneaking more than a few bites myself.
I’ve made this trail mix for so many holidays over the years, and this Christmas version is hands-down one of our favorites.

Reindeer Bait Christmas Trail Mix
Here’s how easy it is to make this festive Christmas snack mix!
- Perfect for Christmas morning – Set it out to munch on while opening presents.
- Kid-approved – Kids love helping mix and sprinkle (and taste test).
- Sweet + salty combo – Pretzels, marshmallows, white chocolate… always a win.
- No-bake and low stress – My favorite kind of holiday recipe.

Ingredients
Here’s what you’ll need:
- 2 cups Chex cereal
- 1.5 cups Cheerios (I used chocolate, but any flavor works!)
- 1.5 cups mini marshmallows
- 1 cup mini pretzel twists
- 12 oz bag white chocolate chips
- 1 tablespoon coconut oil (or shortening)
- 1 cup red and green M&M’s 👉 grab them here!
- Optional - Christmas sprinkles
How to Make It
Step 1: Mix it all up
In a large mixing bowl, combine the Chex cereal, Cheerios, marshmallows, M&Ms and pretzels.

Step 2: Melt your chocolate
In a microwave-safe bowl, add the white chocolate chips and coconut oil.
Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring well between each round, until the chocolate is smooth and fully melted.

Step 3: Combine and coat
Pour the melted white chocolate over the cereal mixture. Stir gently but thoroughly until everything is evenly coated.

Step 4: Spread and sprinkle
Spread the mixture out on a parchment-lined baking sheet. While it’s still melty, sprinkle the Christmas sprinkles evenly over the top.

Let it set completely — you can pop it in the fridge to speed things up if needed.
Step 5: Break and serve!
Once hardened, break the Reindeer Bait into chunks and serve.
