Here's how easy this craft is to make!

  • Wooden pencils (I used 1.5 packs)
  • Pint-sized mason jar
  • Hot glue gun + glue sticks
  • School-themed ribbon – optional but adds a cute finishing touch!

How to Make a Pencil Vase

STEP ONE: Prep Your Supplies
Start by gathering all your supplies and heating up your hot glue gun. Make sure your mason jar is clean and dry before you begin gluing.

STEP TWO: Glue the Pencils Around the Jar
Add a line of hot glue to the back of a pencil and press it vertically onto the side of the jar. Hold it in place for a few seconds until the glue sets. Repeat this process, working your way around the jar until it's completely covered.

STEP THREE: Adjust and Fill in Any Gaps
Once all the pencils are glued on, double check for any gaps and fill them in by slightly adjusting the placement (if needed).

STEP FOUR: Add Ribbon for a Finishing Touch
Tie a piece of school-themed ribbon around the middle or top of the pencil-covered jar. This step is optional, but it adds a fun, festive flair—especially if you're gifting it!

What to do with your pencil vase

This pencil vase is so versatile—you can fill it with anything from flowers to school supplies, or even tuck in a few gift cards or handwritten notes to make it a special teacher gift.

Add a battery-powered tea light for a lantern-like glow, or use it to hold pens and pencils on a classroom desk.
