DIY Personalized Photo Book for Dad
Her's how easy it is to make!
Supplies Needed
- A copy of I Love My Daddy Because...
- Family photos
- Cardstock
- Printer
- Scissors or paper trimmer
- Glue tape or adhesive runner
- Pen, marker, or crayons
How to Make a Personalized Father's Day Photo Book
Step 1: Read Through the Book
Start by flipping through the pages of I Love My Daddy Because...
Each page features a different reason a child loves their dad, such as:
- He sings me songs
- He gives me a ride
- He teaches me to be brave
- He watches over me at night
As you read each page, think about photos you already have that match the message.

Step 2: Gather Photos
Go through your phone or computer and choose photos that fit each page.
The more personal the photos, the more special the finished book will feel.
Look for pictures of:
- Dad reading bedtime stories
- Piggyback rides
- Family adventures
- Snuggles on the couch
- Everyday moments together
Step 3: Print the Photos
I created 6" x 6" photo squares and printed them on cardstock at home.
You can use a free design program like Canva to create a 6" x 6" canvas for each photo before printing, or resize and print them however you prefer.
Once printed, cut out all of the photos.
Step 4: Cover the Original Illustrations
Use glue tape or another adhesive to attach each photo directly over the book's illustrations.
Match each photo to the page's text so the story now features your own family.
As you turn the pages, the book becomes a personalized collection of memories and reasons your kids love their dad.

Step 5: Customize the Cover
I also covered the original cover illustration with a family photo.
For an extra special touch, I placed paper over the author's name and had my kids write their own names there instead.
They absolutely loved seeing themselves listed as the authors of Dad's special book.

Tips for Success
Print on Cardstock
Cardstock helps the pages feel sturdy and prevents photos from wrinkling when glued into the book.
Use Everyday Photos
Don't worry about finding perfect pictures. Some of the most meaningful photos are the ordinary moments that capture real family life.
Let Kids Help
Older kids can help choose photos, cut them out, glue them in place, or sign the cover.
