Looking for fun and funny elf on the shelf ideas? Here's how to set up an easy Elf S’mores Night!
Setting up the Elf on the Shelf can be a LOT of work. Let's keep it easy by using things you already have on hand that won't take half an hour to put together!
My kids LOVE s’mores, so this setup was an instant hit. There’s just something extra magical about seeing your elf doing something your kids love doing too — and this tiny “campfire” scene could not be cuter.

Anyways, this was quick to set up, super funny, and such a crowd-pleaser. Here’s how to make your elf cook s’mores!

Elf on the Shelf – Elf S’mores Night
Difficulty: Easy
Time: 10 minutes

What you need:
- Elf on the Shelf
- 3–5 “friends” — small dolls, action figures, mini stuffies, etc.
- 1 toothpick per character (including the elf)
- 1 mini marshmallow per character
- Tabletop candle
- Lighter
- Glue dots, hot glue, or small clear rubber bands
What you do:
1. Roast the mini marshmallows
Slide each mini marshmallow onto a toothpick.
Light your tabletop candle and gently roast each marshmallow over the flame — yes, really!
Let them cool completely on the counter.

For extra fun, I intentionally burned the elf’s marshmallow so it was black and crispy, while the others were lightly golden. Huge giggles from my kids!
2. Attach the roasting sticks
Decide how you want each character posed and attach the toothpicks to their hands.
You can use:
- A tiny dot of hot glue (it peeled off easily the next day!)
- Glue dots
- Small, clear rubber bands like the ones used for little girls’ hair

Just attach, adjust, and pretend these little guys are ready to roast!
3. Set up the campfire scene
Place your candle in the center as the “campfire.”
Pose your elf behind it, holding her burnt marshmallow.
Arrange all the friend characters around the candle, leaning in like they’re roasting their treats.
It looks SO cute once everything is in place.

4. Add a real-life twist (optional but amazing!)
For an extra magical moment, leave out human-sized s’mores supplies for your kids — graham crackers, chocolate, marshmallows.
It turns this Elf idea into a fun and memorable family activity!

This setup is adorable, quick to assemble, and guaranteed to get a big laugh.
My kids thought it was absolutely hilarious that the elf “burned” her marshmallow while everyone else got theirs perfectly golden.
Have fun — and happy roasting!
